Stop The Traffik

Team Operating Against Slave Traffiking is an ACT group under the oversight of Stop The Traffik, a national movement tacking the issue of human trafficking both home and overseas. (In case you were wondering, we have chosen not to use the name ACT as that also stands for Aldershot Churches Together!) Within the UK trafficking victims are most often to be found working in the sex trade, used in forced labour or in the cultivation of drugs.

Who, When and Where

Residents from Aldershot and Farnborough meet at Holy Trinity once a month with the aim of raising awareness in the local area of the scourge of human trafficking. It is the groups intention to create an atmosphere such that the community is alert to the signs of trafficking so that it cannot take place. Where possible we also attend regional and national events organised by Stop The Traffik.

Group members do not need to be Christians but each meeting open and closes in prayer and we hope that the activities the TOAST group undertakes are a witness to the different Christians make in the world.

Our Activities

So far we have undertaken a taxi campaign whereby we visited taxi ranks to hand out awareness stickers, this was approved by Rushmoor Borough Council and we were also able to present to Rushmoor Taxi trade forum. Taxi drivers themselves are not likely to be traffikers, but traffikers often use taxis to transport their victims from one place to another. We are also running a focussed awareness campaign on Victoria Road in Aldershot.

Get Involved

If you would like to get involved with the group, please e-mail who will add you to the group's distribution list - if you don't have time to come along to the group we welcome your prayers as the issue of traffiking is as much spiritual as physical.
