Thinking Of Visiting

Thinking Of Visiting

If you have never been to Holy Trinity, here are a few things to help you know what to expect.

There's a lot going on and things to get involved in for everybody, but if you are thinking of coming for the first time, this is for you.

We are located in Aldershot, (Go To Our Directions Page) near the town centre, train and bus stations. There is easy parking around the church, particularly if you come early.

There is an entrance to the church building from Windsor Way or through our paved garden area from Victoria Road.

When you enter the church you will find that the building is welcoming, cheery and comfortable. Visitors are very welcome, whether you just want to come and see once or whether you want to stay. You will enter a lounge area, where people meet and talk and hot drinks and refreshments are served up between and after services. There are also toilet facilities available, disabled access throughout the building and a hearing loop has been installed throughout the church which is used during services and events.

If you are thinking of coming to a Sunday service either the 9.30am or 11.15am this is what you can expect.

The 9.30 service is formal in style and has more of a traditional feel with hymns, prayers, Bible reading and sermon. There are no children's groups attached to this service, they happen in the later 11.15 service. Following the service there is opportunity for prayer. Refreshments are served in the lounge where there is always a warm welcome.

The 11.15 service is fairly informal with light hearted moments, and varies a bit from week to week, but its aim is always to inform and help people to know and experience God in their lives, and to try not to put anything unnecessary in the way of that.

If you have been to a football match or a music gig, you will have experienced singing in a crowd, by people who are enthusiastic about their team or band. For those who know God, wanting to sing about it is even stronger, and most weeks we will spend some time singing songs that express our appreciation of God, that help to express our thanks to Him. A band provides the music, and the words are projected on to screen.

Children enjoy clubs during the service with others of their age group. There is also a creche. If children prefer to stay with you, that is not a problem, although please be considerate if they are noisy when someone is talking. There is a loudspeaker in the lounge area and settees if you want to listen and your child is kicking up.

Christianity is a rational and historical faith and we want to learn more about what it means to live God's way in Aldershot 2013. Most weeks there will be a reading from the Bible and either the vicar or someone else will give a talk to help explain and see how it relates to our lives, and what we can do to know God ourselves. The talks are interesting, sometimes surprising and thought provoking and worth listening to. The service finishes about 12.30pm and you are welcome to stay on for refreshments.

There is always the opportunity to ask somebody to pray with you, whether about knowing God, healing, or anything else that is important to you. Over the years there have been some fairly dramatic answers.

If you are coming on your own and want to make sure there is somebody to meet you and make you welcome, please feel free to call or email any Key Staff or the Welcome Team Coordinator and they will make sure that they or someone who will be there knows you are coming.
